
Ichigo Kurosaki is a teenager gifted with the ability to see spirits. His life is drastically changed by the sudden appearance of a Soul Reaper—one who governs the flow of souls between the human world and the afterlife—named Rukia Kuchiki, who arrives in search of a Hollow, a dangerous lost soul. When Rukia is severely wounded defending Ichigo from the Hollow, she attempts to transfer half of her reiatsu energy to Ichigo so that he can defeat the Hollow. However, Ichigo takes almost all of her energy, transforming into a Soul Reaper and allowing him to defeat the Hollow with ease. With her powers diminished, Rukia is left stranded in the human world until she can recover her strength. In the meantime, Ichigo must take over Rukia's role as a Soul Reaper, battling Hollows and guiding souls to the afterlife realm known as the Soul Society.

Orihime learns that her brother is a Hollow, a soul that didn't pass peacefully over to the Soul Society but lingered instead, pursing those they loved most in life.

Ichigo's friend and classmate Chad Sado brings a bird to school that turns out to be cursed and contains the soul of a boy who lived a tragic life.

Rukia and Chad fight a vicious Hollow named Shrieker, the Hollow has defeated a large number of Soul Reapers in battles and has committed many crimes.

At a Soul Reaper supply shop, Rukia picks up a modified soul to take over Ichigo's body while he's pulling Soul Reaper duty. But the mod soul takes off with Ichigo's body to have a little fun!

Rukia and Ichigo track Ichigo's body to a local elementary school. While Ichigo struggles with mischievous soul inhabiting his body, Rukia receives word of a Hollow sighting nearby, but is unable to confirm it's location.

On the anniversary of his mother's death, Ichigo intends to take the day off from Soul Reaper duties and visit her grave with the rest of his family, but Rukia is at the cemetery waiting for him. She hears how his mother died and has some suggestions to offer him.

Ichigo faces the Grand Fisher, a Hollow that uses a lure in the shape of a little girl, who Ichigo recalls with shock as the same girl he saw when his mother died. He attacks the Hollow in a rage, making him an easy target.

When television hero Don Kanonji schedules a live recording of his show "Spirit Hunter" at a local abandoned hospital, Ichigo is surprised to see that an actual demi-Hollow is being summoned for the show.

Rumors spread about Ichigo and Rukia's relationship when they keep dissappearing from school to respond to Hollow alerts. Overworked and frustrated, Ichigo is unaware that one of his classmates, Uryu Ishida, possesses spiritual powers of his own.

In order to prove how useless Soul Reapers are, Uryu releases bait to draw Hollows to their town. Whoever gets rid of the most wins the challenge, but soon Hollows are everywhere, including one that threatens Chad and Ichigo's sister.


























The Women's Soul Reaper Association is hosting a New Year's party in the Soul Society, when Hitsugaya and the other male Soul Reapers come crashing in.

Ichigo has another dream and tries to escape from it again.


On New Year's Day, Izuru hosts a kite-flying contest in the hopes of everyone having a good time.

Ichigo continues his training with Kūgo Ginjō.

Ichigo gradually loses his remaining powers and bids farewell to Rukia.

Seventeen months later, Ichigo continues living life as a normal teenage high school student in Karakura Town.

Ichigo gets contacted by a man named Kugo Ginjoo who wants information about a certain person close to Ichigo. Uryu pursues a stranger who appears to be interested in Ichigo.

After Ichigo and Orihime Inoue visit Uryū in the hospital, Keigo Asano is attacked.

Ichigo decides to call on Ginjo for some answers. At his hideout, "Xcution," Ginjo tells Ichigo of his goal to restore Ichigo's lost Soul Reaper powers, as well as demonstrating his own unique power, "Fullbring."

Ginjo gives Ichigo a day to decide whether to regain his lost Soul Reaper powers or not. But Ichigo, who no longer wishes to endanger anyone by being a Soul Reaper, decides to decline the offer.

Ichigo begins training to regain his Soul Reaper powers at the Xcution's hideout. His first training is to fight and win against Mr. Pork, an opponent created by Riruka's Fullbring power "Dollhouse."


Ichigo and Chad rush to find Orihime. Meanwhile, Orihime attempts to stop Tsukishima from leaving the scene, but is instead stabbed by his Fullbring power.

Ichigo asks Ginjo to let him fight one of the Xcution members for his training. But Jackie, who detests the power of Fullbring, finds Ichigo's request selfish and refuses.

Ichigo begins his training with Jackie Tristan, who brings out her Fullbring power "Dirty Boots." As he goes up against Jackie's powerful attacks, Ichigo begins to gradually understand the use of his own Fullbring power.

Tsukishima breaks into the Xcution hideout where Ichigo is training. Learning that he was the one who attacked Uryu and Orihime, a furious Ichigo proceeds to attack Tsukishima.

Ichigo escapes from his house in confusion after witnessing his friends and family welcoming Tsukishima as if they've known him for years.

As Ichigo begins his battle with Tsukishima, Uryū arrives and Ginjō is cut by Tsukishima.

Ginjo reveals his true colors by attacking Ichigo and stripping him of his Fullbring powers. Ichigo lies in despair from losing his powers yet again, when his father Isshin and Kisuke Urahara arrive.

Under the orders of Head Captain Yamamoto, the 13 Court Guard Squad Soul Reapers share their Spirit Energy to restore Ichigo's lost powers. With his Soul Reaper powers fully restored, Ichigo returns to challenge Ginjo.

The Soul Reapers take on the Xcution members in one-on-one battles. Meanwhile, Ichigo and Uryu prepare to take on Ginjo.

The battle between Byakuya and Tsukishima escalates as they both push their powers to the limit. Meanwhile, Rukia struggles against the traps set up by Riruka.

As the battle between Ichigo, Uryū , and Kūgo Ginjō intensifies, the truth behind the Substitute Shinigami Badge surfaces.
