Overview
Octave, a romantic young man, a “child of the century”, lives in an empty world, focused only on wealth and is bored. He is a libertine who believes he can find happiness in love but upon reaching manhood, he experiences sentimental betrayal. He discovers that his mistress is cheating on him with one of his best friends. He loses faith in love and abandons himself to debauchery, until he falls in love with another young woman, Brigitte, delicate and pure. However, her doubts, her suspicions and her jealousy will get the better of this mutual love and the young woman will have to react to avoid sinking into Octave's whirlwind.
