Overview
Matilde, wife of Roberto, a small industrialist from Ferrara, has to face a serious family crisis: while Nina, the eldest daughter, leaves her husband and son to pursue a career as a model, the younger son Matteo leaves his studies and falls in love with a friend of his mother. Roberto repudiates his son and goes into business with a South American, Vezze, who becomes Nina's lover. Matilde does not share her husband's closed attitude towards her children, but above all she feels little considered by her family. So she decides to leave Roberto and falls in love with an old friend.
