Overview
In the autumn of 1949, a unit of the Chinese People's Liberation Army went south to attack Yunnan, Guizhou, and Sichuan to eliminate the last forces of the Kuomintang and passed through western Hunan. After the military art troupe leader Liang Ziyun led the art troupe members to present a wonderful mobilization performance for the army officers who were about to leave, Liang Ziyun and other five art troupe members were mysteriously abducted by bandits. The army commander was furious and ordered the reconnaissance company commander Zheng Huchen (played by Wang Ting) to go to the bandits' lair to rescue the art troupe members. Zheng Huchen, the heroic soldier who thought that the decisive attack of the brothers of the reconnaissance company who had been exposed to the flames of war for many years would achieve a quick victory and complete the final battle to liberate all of China with the army, soon found that he was trapped in the mountains of western Hunan. Facing the bandits of "one hundred thousand mountains and one hundred thousand troops" in western Hunan, the last base area where the Kuomintang attempted to counterattack, and the local militia leaders Gu Ruochong (played by Du Zhiguo) and Gu Tianxiang (played by Ye Jing) who refused to cooperate, the bandit-suppression commando team of less than ten people was like a lonely child breaking into the siege of a pack of wolves, with no hope of survival.
