In 1960, the country suffered three years of severe natural disasters. At this time of crisis, the people of Inner Mongolia made a rare decision - to bring 3,000 Shanghai orphans who were dying of hunger to Inner Mongolia and entrust them to herders to raise them. A train carries orphans from Shanghai to the grasslands of Inner Mongolia. Dolan exchanged her husband Hada's beloved snowflake horse for two cows to raise a Shanghai orphan, which made Hada furious. He sent the two cows back and wanted the snowflake horse back, but the shepherd Zana wouldn't give it back, so they took action. Just as people were talking about how to adopt these orphans, Dolan's ex-husband Su He, who had been missing for many years, returned from Mongolia after serving his sentence.
