In 1960, the country suffered three years of severe natural disasters. At this time of crisis, the people of Inner Mongolia made a rare decision - to bring 3,000 Shanghai orphans who were dying of hunger to Inner Mongolia and entrust them to herders to raise them. From then on, the action of raising three thousand orphans began on the grasslands of Inner Mongolia... The play is mainly based on the self-narration of 8-year-old Shanghai orphan Yusheng (Bilige) after he grew up. It describes the spiritual growth process of several orphans from rejecting the grassland to integrating into the grassland, from having a new life to growing up. At the same time, the play also shows the various difficulties encountered by grassland herders, mainly the Dolan family, in the process of raising orphans, including their personal relationships. Through this play, we not only express the raising of orphans, but also try to three-dimensionally express the orphans' deep love and understanding of the grassland that gives them life and soul. A train carries orphans from Shanghai to the grasslands of Inner Mongolia. Dolan exchanged her husband Hada's beloved snowflake horse for two cows to raise a Shanghai orphan, which made Hada furious. He sent the two cows back and wanted the snowflake horse back, but the shepherd Zana wouldn't give it back, so they took action. Just as people were talking about how to adopt these orphans, Dolan's ex-husband Su He, who had been missing for many years, returned from Mongolia after serving his sentence. This made the Emingol grassland, especially Dolan's family, one more thing that could not be calmed down...
