Overview
From the 1920s to the 1950s, over thirty thousand innocent Czechoslovak citizens were imprisoned in the USSR, many of whom died there. The documentary maps the individual phases of this history using the statements of witnesses who survived the gulag, expert comments, archival materials and, above all, a stay in authentic locations of former gulag camps. The intention is to examine the international impact of the prison machinery, which was monstrous in numbers even for our country - tens of thousands of innocent Czechoslovak citizens were imprisoned in the USSR. The documentary series, thanks to the detailed knowledge of the creators (filmmakers, historians, Russians), approaches the topic in a broader context and with an attractive formal treatment - statements of direct witnesses, as yet unpublished archive materials of the NKVD - KGB. All this supplemented by animations, photographs and authentic footage from the places of former camps, where in most cases no one has looked until today.
