
Battleground is a workplace dramedy set in the world of political campaigns. It takes place in Wisconsin, a real battleground state, where Tak and his team manipulate the 24-hour news cycle, new media, and social networking to navigate the unpredictable ups and downs of state politics. All the while, a documentary crew exposes the behind-the-scenes chaos of idealistic twenty-somethings trying to make a difference.

After winning the Primary, State Senator Samuels has four weeks until the election to overcome a fifteen percentage point deficit to Governor Creighton. New roadblocks magically appear in their path, courtesy of the Creighton political machine, but there appears to be good news, an unexpected endorsement.

Now three weeks until the election and Senator Makers entry into the race as an independent has not helped Samuels standing, still sixteen percentage points behind. Tak worries about their finances while KJ struggles to write a speech in Cole's absence. Meanwhile Jordan films a commercial.

Now two weeks until the election and Samuels has taken a big step forward, now only five percentage points behind, largely due to independent candidate Makers taking away votes from both Samuels and Creighton. Tak tries to talk Cole into returning to the campaign, while an unexpected visit from his father leads to grief. A break-in occurs at the campus headquarters and in addition to the theft of their fax machine, a laptop with critical information also is missing.

A flashback documentary episode that shows the time when Tak worked for his father on one of Senator Makers' campaigns, and when he met his future wife Sarah.

One week until the election and Samuels has closed to within three percentage points. The campaign gets an unexpected visit from the national organization, much to Tak's disgust. Plus, a Creighton press conference drops a bombshell.

Two days until the election and the revelations about Samuels' infidelity have hurt, increasing her deficit to seven percentage points. Despite Tak's protests, Samuels takes advice from their national advisor and a so called "press conference" ends up a disaster. Meanwhile, the budding romance between Ben and Lindsey continues to flourish, much to Jordan's dismay.

It's election day and Samuels has pulled even with her Republican opponent, Governor Creighton. President Obama comes to Wisconsin to try to help swing votes for Samuels, but election day shenanigans threaten to defeat them.
