Karel Hašler's life was taboo both during the German occupation and later under the totalitarian regime. He was a patriot in body and soul, hating the Austro-Hungarian monarchy, German fascism and Russian Bolshevism as well. That is why he had problems not only during his life, but also after his death, even though he gave his life for his country and was martyred in a concentration camp. He was born on 31 October 1879 in Zlíchov, died on 22 December 1941 at the age of 62 in the Mauthausen concentration camp, where he was tortured as a political prisoner.
