Overview
In Italy in the mid-1960s, still in full economic boom, the events of various humanity are intertwined. Vittorio Ferrari is a lazy time waster, dedicated mostly to horse racing, who is always looking for ways, legitimate or otherwise, to change his life in order to win back his wife Giulia and not disappoint the expectations that his son Luca places in him. Marietto is a quiet husband from the Venetian province, all too subservient to his wife, who in the years before the sexual revolution discovers how friends and acquaintances are actually much less moderate than they want to let on. Nino Diamanti, on the other hand, is a rich property developer and great tax evader, dealing with an upright tax inspector, Doctor D'Alessio; the families of the two end up reluctantly crossing paths also because of the romantic relationship that is established between Diamanti's daughter, Alessandra, and D'Alessio's son, Luigino.
