Overview
Sofia, the daughter of a member of parliament and a rich girl of the time, meets Manos Chteniadis, a poor lieutenant from Mournies, Crete. Manos, son of a priest, born in the village of Eleftherios Venizelos, fought with Pavlos Melas in Macedonia, is wounded and returns to Athens. They first met at a dance school of the time, since Manos was a fellow student at the Evelpidon School with Sofia's cousin, Panos. The initial dislike leads to a great love, despite the reactions of their parents and misunderstandings, the kidnapping of Sophia by robbers and her rescue by Manos, the duel of Manos with a would-be suitor of Sophia, and is vindicated in the last episode, when Athens is upset by the manifestation of the movement in Goudi.
