1794, during the French Revolution: Benjamin Constant has just met Germaine de Staël with whom he immediately falls madly in love. He is a young man of spirit, a writer already bruised by life. She, the daughter of a famous man, is one of the most brilliant women of her time. Germaine immediately defends herself from Benjamin's love and only says she admires his spirit. But little by little, a violent but indispensable passion holds them back. For nearly twenty years, the two lovers never stopped fighting, loving, fleeing, breaking up and reuniting in the ritual places where they meet season after season. It is most often in a stormy intimacy, sometimes ambivalent, but always obstinate and passionate.
