Kodiak chronicles the lives of three families: the Mays, the Hollands and the Cusacks, who converge together every fall to run Bob May's remote hunting and fishing lodge in one of the most dangerous archipelagos in the world. The three families subsist on what the islands and surrounding seas provide, while they guide hunters into the deep, dark rainforest, teeming with the largest land carnivore on earth: The Kodiak Brown Bear.

The lodge opens for the fall season and Bob and Ernie luck upon a whale carcass on the beach that has attracted a swarm of bears. Back at camp, Robert is training Troy and Kyle on what it takes to be a bear guide in Kodiak.

On a hunt, Bob and Ernie get their client up close and personal with Kodiak bear. Everything goes smoothly until the bear decides to charge. Meanwhile, Troy and Kyle are tackling the unsavory task of moving the outhouse.

Bob and Ernie must split up their team as two hunters arrive in Kodiak. Meanwhile, Rob begins to recognize the reality of his father getting older. Rob must decide if he is going to follow in his father's footsteps and take over the family business.

Bear Season is over and Troy and Kyle's guiding futures are on the line. The men must take on one final dangerous test to determine if they should be named guides.
