Miss Alphabet was a sex fraud case that caused a sensation in Hong Kong. From the 1980s to the 1990s, Chin Chi-ming used different aliases to play pimp, film director, and rich man. He used generous film contracts, RVs, and money to lure female artists into having sex. Many female artists were secretly photographed naked and blackmailed. Unwilling to be deceived, one victim reported to the police on August 13, 1990. The incident shocked the whole of Hong Kong after the incident was revealed. When the case started in 1991, in order to protect the identity of the victim, the court ordered the media not to disclose the victim's information. The Hong Kong media called the six female witnesses Miss A, B, C, D, E, and X, hence the name of the case. Qian Zhiming was ultimately charged with 11 charges, including theft, extortion, fraud, intimidation and inducing others to engage in sexual acts, and was sentenced to 47 months in prison. Before the sentencing, he claimed to have had sexual intercourse with 50 to 70 female celebrities, about half of whom were beauty pageant contestants.
