The story of lonely people who are looking for a way to each other in typical city apartments. The main character is retired Titus Gara, who lives alone in a block of flats, and has a neighbor Mrs. Kristeková, a lonely but also selfish and malicious woman. Titus wants to meet people, so he posts an ad that he is selling antiques. He is not even interested in selling them, but wants to talk to people, he especially relies on a wheelchair and a candlestick. This is how he meets Marián Belan, also a lonely person who was released from prison. The two outcasts quickly become close. Alžbeta Kristeková, who lives in the neighborhood, an intolerable person who usurped the mild-mannered Mrs. Javorská, does not want to agree to the presence of a former prisoner in the house.
