Overview
Outskirts of Genoa. Keawe lives in a hovel and has no real job. To earn some money, he acts as a living statue in the streets of the city. One day, in the plate of offerings left by passers-by, he finds a note with an address and some foreign currency banknotes. Intrigued, he goes to the address shown on the ticket, where the sumptuous home of a very rich man stands. The owner welcomes him and begins to tell him the story of the devil in the bottle, that is, a bottle that contains a spirit capable of making the wishes of its owner come true. The man convinces Keawe to buy the object, with one caveat: he must keep it for a short time and resell it for less than what he paid, otherwise his soul will burn in hell.
