Overview
From the novel by Grazia Deledda. Marianna Sirca, daughter of a Sardinian landowner, struggles to defend her properties from bandits, speculators and fortune hunters after her father's death. She falls in love with a brigand (a good young man overwhelmed by circumstances) but a cousin, in love with her, kills the young man. Marianna, also wounded, kills the suitor.
