Overview
After his young wife died in a tragic car accident, fire chief Adam Fiedler lives with his mother Luise with his six-year-old daughter Marie. At Christmas, Marie misses her mother particularly badly. Then the blonde angel at the Christmas market in the form of Sophie Kaspar comes to her at the right time to ask about her mother. Sophie doesn't know little Marie yet, but she does know her grandma Luise, who sings with her in the choir. Luise Fiedler is in the middle of preparing for Christmas when she falls off the ladder while doing housework and seriously injures herself. Franz, Luise's neighbor, and his friend Egon, both of whom don't think much of Christmas and have already prepared themselves for an evening of drinking, quickly call an ambulance. But Marie feels so strongly reminded of her mother's death when her beloved grandmother is taken away that she runs away in horror.
