Overview
The film takes place in a small Central Asian town. The girl Gulya falls in love with a married man - Muratov, but her family is going to marry her to Erkin, a completely successful and wealthy man. Guli's relatives are fabricating a criminal case against Muratov and forcing her to give false testimony in court. Muratov is convicted. Under the influence of these tragic events, Gulya cannot stand it and commits suicide. Returning home, Muratov learns about Guli's death and his wife's departure, and that he has a son...
