Overview
After the departure of her beloved Alki (who went abroad to America, but asked her to wait for him), Lela returns to her home where she lives with her drunken father, her heartless stepmother and her two little brothers who beg every day here and there. Lela lives in seclusion, restricted by her stepmother, doing all the housework and often writes to Alkis, whom she eagerly awaits. However, her stepmother, together with a friend of hers, plan to marry her off to a rich Arab, but they will not succeed. Loyal to Alkis, Lela goes through everything but is vindicated in the end.
