Overview
The 1999 Winegrowers’ Festival was designed and directed by François Rochaix. His show was designed in five parts, entrusted to a poet and three composers. Very visual and theatrical, he dreamed it from the baroque beginning, close to both popular art and scholarly art, giving pride of place to a return to history: the last Millennium Festival had to contain within itself the festivals that had preceded it and demonstrate historical awareness. It was both a return to the elemental, to myths and symbols, and the manifestation of an openness to others and to the world. It placed, as never before, the winegrowers at the center of the dramaturgy.
