Overview
Julinka lives with her uncle, the owner of a cozy wine bar and shop, Mr. Kubašta. Kubašta takes care of Julinka's strict upbringing, so the girl has to keep her love for Láď Kostecký a secret. Doctor Kosejk, a frequent guest at the wine bar, tries to help Julinka, and after his agreement, Kubašta finally agrees to Julinka's wedding. After the wedding, Julinka moves away and Kubašta remains alone. Dr. Kosejk recommends Mrs. Věra Náhlovská to him as a housekeeper. Vera does well at first. The aging Kubašta succumbs to her charm so much that even his foster love for Julinka cools down...
