Overview
A lawyer argues decisively against the abolition of the death penalty at a congress and is to repeat his lecture in Rio de Janeiro. On the ocean crossing he meets a beautiful woman and falls in love with her so much that he first wants to kill a detective who is pursuing her for murder and, after this attempt fails, sacrifices his entire fortune to save her. When he arrives in Rio, he campaigns for the abolition of the death penalty and learns that the woman he loves is not a murderer, but an actress who played him a comedy to cure him of his harshness. She then becomes his wife.
