Inspector Goster is a taciturn, lone wolf among his colleagues. One day in the hot summer of Frankfurt he is confronted with strange events: guns seem to shoot at people on their own. A mystery that presents Goster with a difficult investigative task. The trigger for these events is the death of a naked man who fell from the upper floor of a rental house. While inspecting the supposed crime scene, an empty apartment, a sudden shot fatally hits one of Goster's colleagues. Goster suffers a heart attack and faints. There is no trace of the perpetrator.
