Overview
Shin Seong-min, a medical doctor, is furious when he learns that his daughter Jin-sook was murdered by a mentally deranged person while his wife, Hwa-hwa, was with fellow doctor Park Dong-won. Meanwhile, the criminal, Heo Dal, commits suicide out of guilt for killing Jin-suk, who was like his daughter, and Seong-min, who knows nothing, takes Heo-dal's daughter, Su-jin, from an orphanage and raises her. As Seong-min watches Su-jin grow up, he becomes increasingly affectionate, but Hwa-ja, his wife, mistreats Su-jin. Jinyoung, the son of Seongmin and the narrator, falls in love with Sujin, and while eavesdropping on his parents' fight, he learns that Sujin is the daughter of the criminal who killed his younger sister, Jinsook.
