Overview
Financial broker Burnes asks the head of the criminal investigation department to come to him about a theft. A valuable ring was stolen from his wife. While the police suspect a “normal” burglary, Mr. Burnes' shady past life turns out. Years ago he was involved in an embezzlement affair but was acquitted. Another received a long prison sentence. The break-in was apparently related to this matter. Suddenly Burnes' marriage to the much younger Florence appears in a dubious light.
