On 29 December 1960, a broadcast from the ABC Theater appeared on television screens, and the audience was thus able to record a performance that was extremely popular at the time, in which Miroslav Horníček excelled alongside Jan Werich. Těžká Barbora by the authorial trio Voskovec–Werich–Ježek had its premiere in 1937 on the stage of the Osvobozené theater. On the same stage, but more than twenty years later, the audience applauded its renewed premiere. In addition to the acting personalities of the protagonists and others (J. Bohdalová, S. Fišer, L. Kostelka, etc.), the Karel Vlach Orchestra also played a part in the success, which accompanied the performance full of songs live. The story of how the Eidam people saved their town from the invasion of the Yberlands was no longer relevant as much as it was at the time of its creation, on the contrary, it was given a timeless, years-confirmed quality by the pre-scenes of the Werich-Horníček pair, filled with today's popular sayings. The recording was reconstructed by Czech Television in the nineties, but its quality is archival after all.
