Overview
Because the beautiful dairymaid Maria brought all of her animals back to the valley from the alpine pasture in good health, she takes part in a pilgrimage to Maria Kranz as a thank you. On her way there she comes to Kirchberg, where Maria is allowed to spend the night in the pastor's barn. There she is discovered by chance by the farmer's son Franz, who immediately falls in love with the girl. Nevertheless, Mary continues her pilgrimage the next morning. But Franz stays on her heels, always hoping that the dairymaid will finally give in to his wooing.
