Overview
France, early 1800s. At the Saint-Cyr cavalry school, which borders the girls' college of the same name, two cadets jump the border wall to woo two girls from the college, Gisella and Gemmina. The quartet, however, is discovered and a scandal breaks out which reaches the ears of the Empress Josephine: the woman orders that the shotgun weddings be celebrated as soon as possible. Napoleon also intervened, appointing the two cadets as officers and sending them to Naples to the court of Murat, who had become king. Le due spose, abbandonate il giorno stesso delle nozze, corrono a Napoli, sempre assistite dalla buona amicizia della Imperatrice, per riconquistare il cuore dei due forzati mariti. The matter, after a series of incidents to which the King's secret police were not even unrelated, ends in the best way: the two officers return to Paris reconciled with their wives.
