Overview
We are in the middle of the 19th century, in a village where a matchmaker, Panousis, convinces the widowed lord Artemis Lykopanagos to give his daughter, Potiti, to his worthy concubine, Augeris, and himself to marry the beautiful Poulia. The courtships are completed and the parents of the two young people accept the union, but not knowing that their children are madly in love. Augeris, who does not want to betray his beloved, refuses to take Potiti as his wife and comes into conflict with Lykopanagos, and is killed. De Pullia is forced to take refuge in a monastery, and a little later she dies in turn.
