Overview
Dolly, a variety dancer, courted by Paolo, falls in love with him and accepts his attentions without worrying about knowing who he is. Unfortunately Paolo is a criminal, who carries out robberies against shopkeepers. During one of these exploits, he is forced to shoot a shop clerk: as he escapes he bumps into a girl, who can see his face. The girl is a skilled designer: at the request of the police, she reproduces the man's features. The police believe they recognize the physiognomic features of Marco, a convicted criminal who has already received two convictions for petty thefts. He is unjustly arrested. Someone points out to Dolly that the portrait of the alleged robber bears a strange resemblance to Paolo. Having become suspicious, Dolly invites Marco's wife to come and visit her at the theatre, where she sees Paolo and understands. The police, informed, make new investigations; Paolo tries to escape, but chased by the police, he is fatally wounded.
