Overview
The proud tseligo girl Despo who lives in a mountain village is a prosperous and sought-after bride. She is besieged by an arrogant and unscrupulous chelyga, Giorgaras, but her own heart beats for the poor and honest Nasos who enters her father's employ. When Nasos clashes with Giorgara's subordinates and her father helps a fellow villager escape his clutches, Giorgaras kidnaps Despo and tries to rape her, and thus – in the end – make her his wife. But Nasos saves her and takes her to her family, asking to marry her.
