Overview
Many of the characters created by the great French writer, poet and playwright Victor Hugo, such as the hunchbacked bell ringer Quasimodo, the convict Jean Valjean, or the small Parisian streetwalker Gavroche, live in our consciousness. From his long life story - Hugo was born in 1802 and died in 1885 - Jaroslav Dietl, as the editor of A. Mauroise's autobiographical novel, chose a single year, i.e. the end of the nineteen-year exile, the return to the homeland, which had just overthrown the emperor Louis Napoleon, established a republic and would soon face the armed invasion of Bismarck's Prussia. The portrayal of a great creative personality in Jaroslav Dudek's production became an acting opportunity for Miloš Kopecky.
