He “pirouettes” from tenderness to revolt, from wounds to ripostes regarding his compatriots from Wallonia or the Flat Country. Until the end of the journey of his life, we discover that he laughs at everything and especially at himself. He dresses his derision with the accent of his childhood. Even today, witnesses remember his Belgian truculence, his obstinacy in wanting to have his belonging recognized and his suffering at having been too often misunderstood by a country which has since cited him clearly.
