Yuan Ye, the underground liaison officer of the Communist Party of China in Shanghai, lost his companions and superiors due to the betrayal of an insider lurking in the organization, and became an isolated island with no one to prove his identity. In order to prove his innocence to the organization, Yuan Ye found Yang Liu, a female college student who had been rescued during the mission, hoping that Yang Liu could go to Yan'an with him to prove his identity. Yang Liu, a patriotic young man who already had revolutionary aspirations, happily followed him as soon as he heard that he was going to the holy land of revolution. Yang Liu also gathered four classmates who had the same ambitions as him, including Zhou Xiaoran, Yu Qiaoqiao, Wu David, and Bai Hua, and asked Yuan Ye to lead them on the road together. Yuan Ye knew very well that although the students were enthusiastic, they were still immature and ignorant of worldly affairs. Yuan Ye persuaded them to go back to study, but was opposed by the determined students. The inner ghost "Fishbone" and the pseudo-agent Wang pursued Yuan Ye fiercely. In a desperate situation, Yuan Ye had to take five students on the road together. Along the way, everyone was pursued and besieged by spies and the Japanese, and the journey to Yan'an was full of dangers. Yuan Ye used his experience and talents time and time again to resolve crises and protect students. It also allowed five young students to realize the true meaning of revolution through the experience of blood and fire, life and death, and gain growth and rebirth. This film is to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the founding of Lu Xun Art Institute and to remember the patriotic young people who rushed to Yan'an during the war.
